Homelessness

The Sheep and the Goats

Matthew 25:31-40

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdomprepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was0 sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Jesus walked this earth as a man.

He was born, He lived, He suffeared, Hebrews 5:8, Jesus learned obediance through what He suffered…….and died.

Jesus, being fully God and fully man was homeless Himself. Matthew 8:20. The son of man has no place to lay his head.

What is our responce to homelessness…….
Do we turn a blind eye? Do we hope it goes away? Do we shun them?

Jesus also said the poor will always be among us.

What will your responce be…….

Food for thought

our lives are not our own

In 1988 I was preparing to go to India, one of my teachers was was telling us that some of us might not come back from India, if we do, it could be in a pine box. He was asking us to talk about it. No conversation ever took place. At the time it never registered with me until we got to India. Two weeks into our Outreach, I found myself looking down the wrong end of a machine gun. At that point Glenn’s words came back to me. I wished at that point we had talked. My life at that point could have been over, and I hadn’t talked about it. This was my first introduction into overseas Missions.
It doesn’t matter what happens to this earthly body cause I am already dead. My life is hid in Christ. I have been bought by Jesus. He paid the highest price for me. John 3:16, for God so loved the world that He gave…..

How much For Jesus

I was told by a volunteer that one of the Catholic Churches stopped their feeding program downtown because someone had broke in and stole the Baby Jesus From the Nativity display. My response was, “Hmmmmm, I wonder how much Jesus is going for these days. How much would you give for Jesus?”. He looked at me with this stunned look and I said, “that will preach”.
I went home later and got thinking more about it. In the gospels we read that Jesus Gave His life for us, How much are we willing to give for Him…..
